PINTS & PIOBAIREACHD Monday, February 14, 2005
Piobaireachd is the Gaelic word for “the playing of the pipes”. Piobaireachd, the classical music of the Highland Bagpipe, is considered by many as the most important element of Celtic music and is arguably Scotland’s greatest contribution to European art. It has been used throughout the centuries as a musical means to summon clans to battle, celebrate victory, lament loss, give warning, and express emotions such as rage and love. It is the epic poetry of Celtic music.
Join in as the Halifax Celtic Feis 2005 showcases the best in Piobaireachd at Pier 21 and catch the best of the best in the Highland piping world.
