Would you like to spend a week in Nice, French Riviera for Mardi Gras (Carnaval de Nice) on February 23rd to March 2nd, 2006 for $600- $700? The Fredericton Pipe Band (branch of the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Pipe Band) has been invited to participate in the Carnaval de Nice this winter, part of the City’s designation of the year 2006 as the Year of Canada in Nice.

Because the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Pipe Band cannot provide the required number of pipers and drummers, we are inviting Maritime pipers and drummers who play at the Grade III level (band) or higher to apply to join us (we also need a bass player and accomplished drum major).

The City of Nice will provide six nights accommodation and five days of meals, plus approximately $250 toward travel per player to have a pipe band of 30 performers. The band will do five parades (1½ hours each) and one short concert.

This is an opportunity for us to use our unique skills as pipers & drummers to represent our country at a most exciting and famous venue.
