FSSAPB “PERCEPTION” CONCERT SET FOR MAY Saturday, April 15, 2006
The Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Pipe Band is getting ready to perform “Perception”, a new production in Fredericton. The performance will be held on Sunday May 7th, 7:30pm at the Playhouse. This show has been created to raise funds to help offset the yearly costs of running a pipe band - something that so many of you know about!
The band is excited with this year’s show as for many of the members it will be their first appearance with the senior band since moving last years Grade 3 section up into the Grade 2 band.
The title “Perception” was chosen because the goal for the band is to change the minds of those who think pipe bands are only about one thing - marching parades. The band ultimately wants to change people's “Perception” of pipe band music, and let them know that all pipe music is not the same thing, there are lots of great, fun, musical things pipe bands can do.
This concert is the latest production the Pipe Band has undertaken in it’s long and varied history, all of this while gearing up for this year's competition season. The concert will feature excellent piping and drumming, along with Highland and Irish Dancing and John Ferguson will be the emcee, as well as perform a number or two with the band. Along with all of that, this year’s show features the Lintuhtine choir under the direction of Helen Morag McKinnon. This promises to deliver an exciting and thrilling evening of Celtic music. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the bands performance.
Tickets are $20, and you can get tickets through any band member, or the Playhouse Box Office at (506) 458-8344. For more information Contact the FSSAPB President, Chris Gallant, at (506) 461-5253 or by email at chris.gallant@unb.ca
