PASSED MOTIONS AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE ACPBA

Changes to Music Requirements:

  • Grade 1 Medley: Proposed change, “Bands shall play a medley of 5-8 minutes duration…”
  • Grade 2 Medley: Proposed change, “Bands shall play a medley of 4-7minutes duration…”
  • Grade 5 March: Proposed change, “Grade 5 bands shall submit 1 march medley of tunes, played in quick time, of 2 minutes 45 seconds to 4 minutes 30 seconds duration.”
  • Grade 5 Medley Amended change: “Submit one medley, 3-5 minutes duration. Different tune types, time signature and tempos shall be used.”
  • Grade Levels of Light Music / Piobaireachd: The ACPBA Constitution should be amended to reflect that a piper may apply to play in a different grade of Piobaireachd than light music, upon approval of the music board and grading committee.

Changes to the Constitution:

  • Changes approved by Music Board:  Amended to: “The executive may, at any time, under the advisement of the Music Board, change the music requirements for solo piping and drum, and pipe band competitions, provided notice is given to the general membership.”

Band Release/Transfer Forms:

The purpose of this motion is to ensure a procedure is in place that will prevent members from leaving one band to move to another jurisdiction or band without returning their band equipment or clearing their books. The Atlantic Canada Pipe Band Membership / Treasurer will contact the new band or association of outstanding equipment or final sign off upon receipt of a Release/ Transfer form.

MOTION: It is moved, on behalf of the 78th Highlanders (Halifax Citadel) Pipe Band that the ACPBA introduce a RELEASE/TRANSFER form to be utilized by bands when members leave and/or transfer to another band or jurisdiction.
